Hadlow's students are the next generation of employers, workers, entrepreneurs and contributors to the land-based sector.

Quite simply, your industry needs them. Have you ever considered that they need you too?

We encourage our alumni to stay connected and help support new and emerging talent in several ways.

Volunteer Your Time

Alumni have first-hand experience of what it's like to study at Hadlow and the resultant careers. Who better then to share that knowledge with current students and give them the power to make the right decisions? We are always looking for Alumni Ambassadors, willing to promote the college and take part in occasional open days or information evenings for prospective students or be interviewed for inclusion in our marketing communications.

Work Experience Placements

Much of our students' work is practical and work-based. If, after studying at Hadlow, you are now self-employed you could be helping our students gain valuable on-the-job experience. If you think your business is suitable and you are willing to have it assessed for the purpose please do contact us.

Garner Bursary Fund

Some of our full time and part time higher education students find themselves in financial difficulty which can threaten the ability to complete or participate in their course. The ‘Garner Bursary Fund', set up in honour of Ken Garner the former Principal of Kent Farm Institute and Hadlow College of Agriculture and Horticulture, is designed to assist those higher education students to buy books and equipment or attend work experience and study tours.

We will be organising future events specifically to raise much needed funds, but welcome any donations from our alumni who want to help Hadlow's talent to succeed. The fund is managed by the Cantagrians Association Committee.

Andy Smith, FdSc Fisheries Management

"After 24 years in the transport industry, and following some health issues I decided it was a good time to retrain and I took the opportunity to study a Foundation Degree in Fisheries Management. I applied for the Garner Bursary funding in 2010 to help with the financial burden of two weeks work experience, an obligatory part of the curriculum. The funding paid for travel expenses from Kent to North Yorkshire and from the remote accommodation to the fish farm site. The hands-on, practical experience was invaluable and I am extremely grateful for the financial support, without which the work experience would not have been possible. It is my aim to use the qualification to teach, and furthermore to be in a financial position to give something back so helping future students in the same way."

Your Ideas Matter
