Below are some frequently asked questions  about Princess Christian's Farm, our students and the curriculum

How do we get to the farm?

You will find contact details and a map on the ‘Contact Us' page.

What is a typical day on the farm?

Students work in different areas, some students will work in Horticulture others may work in the Poultry house. All the animals need to be cared for. They have to be fed, watered and their houses cleaned.

Do we have tea breaks during the day?

Yes there are two 15 minute breaks in the day.

Are there meals available or do we have to bring in sandwiches?

There are meal available which students can buy.  You are also able to bring your own packed lunch.

Are there rules on the farms?

Yes, rules are important as we must keep everyone safe.  We must respect everyone and listen carefully, we do not accept bullying of staff and students.

What time do we start and finish?

The day starts at 9am and finishes at 4pm.  Taxis and minibus arrives around 3.30 - 3.45 pm

Do you have open days?

Yes we do. We have ‘Open Farm Sunday' and invite Care Managers and students who may be interested in the farm to come along and talk to staff and students.

How do we apply?

To apply to the farm you need to talk to your Care Manager/Key worker.  We will always ask the question ‘What do you want to achieve at the farm?  What do you want to learn?

Can I gain qualifications?

Yes, you can gain qualifications in Personal and Social Skills, Employability, and Level 1 land-based qualifications.

Do we have a key worker?

Yes, every student will be given a key worker.  You will meet with your key worker on a regular basis.

What do I wear on the farm and is it muddy?

You will need to have steel toe cap boots/wellingtons, overalls and wet weather gear

What type of animals on the farm?

We have pigs, sheep, cows, poultry, geese and ducks.
