A field of corn demonstrating Agricultural courses at Hadlow College

The Curriculum Princess Christian’s Farm, Hildenborough Kent

‘Values' at Princess Christian's Farm are important to all of us. Therefore, underpinning our curriculum we have the following values:

• Respect for self and others
• Self determination so that people take responsibility for what happens in their lives
• Inclusiveness
• Development of relationships with people at work

These values demonstrate a commitment by Hadlow College and its staff to ensure that the education fulfils the needs of the students, as well as acknowledging to the student the need to be challenged and supported.

All students at Princess Christian's Farm  will have been referred by Kent Adult Learning Disability Team.  We will work together  to enable students to  achieve their goals and aspirations within a  Land based setting.

Individuals who apply to come to the farm will be invited in to have ‘tasters' in each area.  This will take place over 4 weeks ( 1 day a week).  During this time staff will observe student motivation, knowledge and abilities.  The student, and those who support them, will then be invited to an interview.  We will talk about what students want to do and their plans for the future.  We will also look at a programme that will meet their requirements and support needs.

By working with Hadlow Colleges, the students at PCF will benefit from a much wider access to different activities and qualifications in animal management, horticulture, conservation and agriculture.

It is the College's aim that all students progress to their maximum possible level of independence so that they can become active in their communities and in employment.  Students will have the opportunity to work towards qualifications in Personal and Social Skills, Employability and Level 1 land-based qualifications.
