The Sustainable Campus at Hadlow College
So much of what the rural sector does impacts on the environment. As one of the leading colleges in this sector we pride ourselves on our campus being as sustainable as possible.
For example, throughout the estate and Broadview Gardens we have minimised the use of herbicides and pesticides and have extensive recycling facilities for glass, paper, cardboard and metal cans. Students are encouraged through their curriculum and enrichment activities to make use of these and be as aware as possible of the challenges the world faces.
Through the use of energy saving technology such as voltage optimisation equipment, and the engagement of students and staff to turn out lights and power down PCs & printers when they leave the room, Hadlow College has gone some way to reducing its electrical consumption.
In addition, the College residential accommodation has recently been upgraded with improved insulation, energy efficient boilers and double glazing to prevent heat loss and cut down the College's use of fossil fuels. In addition, our new accommodation at Grove Farm has a number of innovative concepts such as point-of-use heaters and a ventilation system which relies on air current; this means it only needs one fan to serve all rooms.
