Students benefit from a wide range of links with commercial nurseries, research institutes, organic producers, public and privately owned gardens as well as exposure to the retail world through our onsite garden centre. The College is also a member of the Royal Horticultural Society; NCCPG and the Hardy Plant Society.

Entry Requirements

RHS Diploma or an HND, Foundation Degree or Degree in Horticulture, or a related discipline supported by a module from the RHS Diploma.

Additional Experience
Students must have 3 years appropriate professional experience or current employment in the horticultural industry.

Course Duration
Part time: 3 years, Wednesday evenings, 6:30pm - 9:00pm.

Course Content

Year 1

  • Horticulture and research
  • Operational business management

A choice of:

  • Amenity horticulture
  • Production horticulture

Year 2

  • Principles and processes of world horticulture
  • Strategic management in horticultural business environments
  • Technical competence assessment (practical)

A choice of:

  • Gardens and designed landscapes
  • Urban landscapes
  • Production horticulture

Year 3

  • Research and dissertation

This course is approved by the RHS.

Please note: This course is validated by the RHS, not the University of Greenwich. Different fees therefore apply.

Assessment Method
Projects, written and practical examinations and a final year dissertation.
