With an increased awareness of the health giving properties of fruit and vegetables, and the main stream phenomenon of herbal medicines, this programme provides students with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in plant propagation and production. You will focus on plants with medicinal properties and gain an understanding of a variety of horticultural practices. This knowldge is supported by the science of growing to maximise production, the chemical skills to extract and analyse plant compounds and the application to the human body.

Entry Requirements

80 UCAS points: 1 A level at Grade C or above or National Diploma at PPM or equivalent supported by GCSEs.

This programme is recognised by the Institute of Horticulture as leading towards membership.

Assessment Method
Coursework (assignments, written reports, case studies and presentations) as well as final examinations.

Progression Routes
Successful students can progress onto the BSc (Hons) Medicinal Horticulture programme. Alternatively, career prospects are excellent at a technical sales and managerial levels.

Specialist Equipment Needed
Protective clothing, footwear, a horticultural knife and secateurs.
