The College is also a member of the Royal Horticultural Society; NCCPG and the Hardy Plant Society.

Formerly known as an NVQ, this course examines the propagation and maintenance of plants and the management of grass, paths and structures and is ideal for those with no previous experience. You will benefit from a blend of theory and practical training underpined at all times with the essentials of safe working practices. By the end of the course you will possess a broad range of skills suitable for a career in the horticulture industry.

Training will take place in the workplace at a suitable time arranged with your assessor.

Students must be employed or in a 1 year work placement within the industry.

Plus a choice of 3 units which are most relevant to your area of work. Some of these units include:

  • Assist with the maintenance of grass surfaces
  • Assist with maintaining structures and surfaces
  • Assist with the maintenance of equipment
  • Assist with the vegetative propagation of plants
  • Assist with the propagation of plants from seeds
  • Assist with harvesting, collecting and preparing crops
