Formerly known as an NVQ, this course is aimed at students who are already working in the industry and provides an understanding of the essential skills needed to progress within the landscape sector. Complementing your existing experience with a mix of theory and practical training, by the end of the course you will have gained a solid foundation within this industry and be able to carry out a variety of different tasks.

Training will take place in the workplace at a suitable time arranged with your assessor.

Students must be employed or in a 1 year work
placement within the industry.

Course Duration
Diploma: 1 year flexible delivery with some college attendance. Apprenticeship: 15 months flexible delivery with some college attendance.

Course Content

  • Monitor and maintain health and safety
  • Develop personal performance and maintain working relationships

Plus a choice of 5 units which are most relevant to your area of work. Some of the units include:

  • Establish plants outdoors
  • Maintain general amenity turf
  • Establish and develop decorative amenity areas
  • Use and maintain equipment and machines
  • Prepare and operate a tractor with attachments
  • Construct and maintain water features
  • Construct and maintain boundaries and paths
  • Maintain plants outdoors

 

Assessment Method
Diploma: portfolio of evidence and practical assessment. Apprenticeship: portfolio of evidence, practical assessment and on-line tests.

Progression Routes
Successful students can progress their career with their employer.
