Recipe for success as Hadlow College sponsors Kent Young Chef Award 2010
Hadlow College has once again demonstrated its commitment to ‘Innovation, Experience & Excellence' by sponsoring the ‘Kent Young Chef Award' 2010.
‘Kent Young Chef Award' is the brainchild of local food and drink champions - Produced in Kent a non-profit making organisation that is funded by Hadlow College and KCC - and is based within the grounds of the campus at Hadlow.
The dynamic cookery competition which was launched in 2009 was created by Produced in Kent to inspire the county's secondary school students to get creative in the kitchen, and to encourage young people to enjoy cooking with seasonal and locally grown produce.
As manager of Produced in Kent, Julie Monkman, said, "We are truly delighted to have the support and backing of Hadlow College. Time and again the college has proved itself to be at the forefront of bringing out the best in young people and investing in the next generation. This competition really gives Kent's teenagers and young people a chance to shine in the kitchen and to reconnect with what's grown and produced locally."
Katie Smith-Palomeque, associate director for business & partnerships at Hadlow College added, "We already have a reputation as one of the top land-based colleges in the UK and it is one of our key drivers here at Hadlow to connect young people with the land, via meaningful careers in agriculture, countryside management and land management. Eating and cooking with local and seasonal produce is all part of helping to achieve flourishing rural communities here in Kent and Hadlow College is delighted to offer its support to this exciting cookery competition."
In addition to the sponsorship of Hadlow College, the competition has the support of kff and Woods Restaurant, Produce Store & Bars. The competition will also feature prominently in the KM group of newspapers and on kmfm radio.
