With ever growing concern surrounding the impact of development on the countryside it is imperative that it is managed on an ongoing basis.
By taking a course at Hadlow College you will gain an insight into this crucial industry.
As a countryside specialist, with the skills and knowledge to manage and identify a range of flora and fauna, your role would be to maintain the delicate balance between protecting and enhancing a variety of natural habitats and allowing the general public to access, and ultimately enjoy, experiencing them. You would be working at a variety of locations including woodlands, farms, nature reserves and the wider countryside.
Our courses, developed in partnership with the industry, provide a holistic approach to protecting and developing
the countryside.

Isobel Hopper
National Diploma in Countryside Management
"I have always loved being outdoors and, since I wanted to learn more about our native countryside, this course seemed a natural choice for me.
Because Hadlow is surrounded by countryside it’s a great place to learn – the whole campus is pretty much the classroom. There are numerous areas to explore and we get to
see a range of habitats. The tutors are really knowledgeable and because they seem to enjoy the subject so much they are really enthusiastic – this makes it so much easier to learn.
When I’ve finished this course I think I’m going to carry on learning and maybe do a degree in wildlife conservation. I’m totally convinced that this is the right career for me and cannot wait to put the skills I’ve gained into practice.”
The Department's View...
With a 256 hectare estate, and access to numerous off-site resources, students are exposed to wide and varied environments."
