  • 170 hectare fully functioning commercial farm with an additional 50 hectares of grazing land.
  • 200 hectares of land for arable teaching purposes on a neighbouring farm

Students benefit from close ties with regional aocieties and farming clubs as well as organisations such as the National Farmers' Union (NFU), the Young Farmers, DEFRA, and RABDF.  In addition, students are encouraged to attend relevant industry conferences and exhibitions.

Formerly known as an NVQ, this course builds on the competencies gained at Level 2 with students benefiting from a blend of theory and practical assessments all aimed at maximising their potential. You will be responsible for much of your own learning and evidence generation with the assessors providing guidance and input where necessary. Training will take place in the workplace at a suitable time arranged with your assessor.  

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have 4 GCSEs at grades A* - C, 2 of which must be English, Maths or Science or have a full level 2 qualification at Merit in a relevant subject.

Additional Experience
Students must be in a position of responsibility within the industry.

18 months flexible delivery with some college attendance.

Course Content

  • Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security
  • Communicate information within the workplace
  • Maintain and store records within the workplace
  • Prepare, monitor and cultivate sites for planting crops
  • Identify, monitor and maintain the hearlthy growth of crops
  • Plan the preparation and use of tractors and attachments

Plus optional units relevant to the industry within which the candidate works, e.g. manage the production of special novel crops, identify, monitor and control unwanted vegetation and monitor and maintian harvesting operations.

Portfolio of evidence, practical assessments, projects and assignments.
