  • 170 hectare fully functioning commercial farm with an additional 50 hectares of grazing land.

Students benefit from close ties with regional aocieties and farming clubs as well as organisations such as the National Farmers' Union (NFU), the Young Farmers, DEFRA, and RABDF.  In addition, students are encouraged to attend relevant industry conferences and exhibitions.

Useful for those requiring a basic knowledge of agriculture, students are trained on machinery and learn how to handle livestock (such as sheep and cows), crops and ultimately how to work on a modern farm.  You will benefit from a combination of lectures and practical farm sessions, all of which is designed to enhance future employability.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have a profile of a minimum of 4 GCSEs, 2 of which should be at grades C - D.  This profile should also preferably include 2 in English, Maths or Science.

  • Introduction to crop establishment
  • Introduction to farm animal production
  • Introduction to land-based machinery operation
  • Participate in providing estate maintenance
  • Undertake work related experience in the land-based industries

Assessment Method
Continuous assessment through assignments, projects, practical tests and external assessments. Students are encouraged to relate theory to practice in all assessments.

Progression Routes
Sucessful students can further enhance their skills by enrolling onto a work-based qualification, Apprenticeship or the Level 3 Extended Diploma. Alternatively, should they wish to do so, you may gain employment in the agricultural industry.

Specialist Equipment Needed
You will need steel-toe capped boots, wellington boots, waterproof clothing, and Hadlow College overalls.
