Providing an introduction to various aspects of fisheries management, this course makes use of both on-site and off-site facilities. You will develop a solid foundation of skills and knowledge needed to pursue a successful career within this sector. It’s highly practical content will further enhance your understanding of lake ecology, fish species and biology, habitat requirements and enhancements, angling skills, fishery management and working within the industry.
Entry Requirements Applicants should have a profile of a minimum of 4 GCSEs, 2 of which should be at grades C - D. This profile should also preferably include 2 in English, Maths or Science.

Course Content
Assessment Method
Continuous assessments throughout the year comprising written and oral tests, practical assignments and identification tests.
Progression Routes
Successful students can further enhance their skills by enrolling onto a work-based qualification, Apprenticeship or the Level 3 Extended Diploma. Alternatively, should you wish to do so, you may gain employment in the fisheries industry.
Specialist Equipment Needed
Fishing tackle, Environment Agency Rod license, chest waders, warm and waterproof clothing and steel toe-capped boots.
