This highly practical course is an ideal starting point for those students who have little or no formal qualifications and want to make a career in horticulture. You will be introduced to plants, shown the correct way of caring for them and learn how to identify a number of different plants. As part of the course you will be expected to grow plants from seed, take cuttings and look after them whilst they develop.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to the curriculum area and have 2 GCSEs at D - E or have evidence of having studied at Entry L3.

Assessment Method
Short multiple-choice examinations, will be marked by an external examiner.

Progression Routes
Successful students can further enhance their skills by enrolling onto the Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture or, should they wish to, progress straight into the horticulture industry.

Specialist Equipment Needed
Steel toe-capped boots and waterproof clothing.
