Students benefit from a wide range of links with commercial nurseries, research institutes, organic producers, public and privately owned gardens as well as exposure to the retail world through our onsite garden centre. The College is also a member of the Royal Horticultural Society; NCCPG and the Hardy Plant Society.
Formerly known as an NVQ, this course builds on the skills learnt previously and is designed for those students working in a position of responsibility within the amenity horticutlure industry. Enabling you to develop craft-level skills, you will study the principles of landscape evaluation and design, hard landscaping construction, soft landscape installation and management, health and safety and basic management of materials and labour. You will be responsible for much of your own learning and evidence generation, with the assessors providing guidance and input where necessary. Training will take place in the workplace at a suitable time arranged with your assessor.
Entry Requirements Applicants should have 4 GCSEs at grades A* - C, 2 of which must be English, Maths or Science or have a full level 2 qualification at Merit in a relevant subject.
Additional Experience
Students must be in a position of responsibility

Course Duration
18 months flexible delivery with some college attendance.
Course Content Plus optional units relevant to the industry within which the candidate works, e.g. set and mark out landscape sites to established grassed and planted areas, establish planted areas and plan and collect propagation material.
