More about Agriculture & Sustainability faculty

Internationally, the agriculture industry is expanding creating with it lots of opportunities for well educated and technically competent graduates. From the outset of the course, you will gain an understanding of the global conditions in which agriculture operates and take a "hands on" approach to the issues which this sector faces. By focusing on efficient and environmentally sustainable crop and livestock production you will appreciate the bigger picture in relation to agricultural trade and development.

Entry Requirements

240 UCAS points made up from A levels, preferably one in a Science based subject, or Level 3 vocational qualification.   All applicants should also have a GCSE grade C or above in English, Maths and Science.

Course Duration
3 years, 2 1/2 days per week. Please note, you will be expected to spend 1-2 days per week studying at home in addition to attendance at College.

As part of the course students are expected to undertake work experience. Whilst this normally takes place in the second year on a part-time basis, some students choose to complete it on a full-time basis in the summer between Year 1 and Year 2. You will be supported in finding an appropriate placement to gain an insight into working in agriculture.

Assessment Method
Coursework (practical assignments, written reports and presentations) as well as end of unit examinations.

Progression Routes
Successful students may progress onto a related MSc or PhD programme. Alternatively, students may enter the industry as farm managers or pursue a career in one of the many agricultural companies or technical agencies across the world.
