Apprenticeships

Work Focused Training Apprenticeships

Choosing college does not necessarily mean choosing to postpone your career. In fact, most work places offer a potentially rich learning environment. Work-based learning is an innovative approach to gaining a qualification since it offers training to employees in the work place with minimal attendance at college.

At Hadlow College we offer Intermediate Apprenticeships, Advanced Apprenticeships and fee paying routes in Agriculture and Horticulture, with a variety of pathways that can be tailored to suit the employer needs and resources. Students in suitable employment can, with the approval of their employer apply for an apprenticeship. If they are 16-18 years old the tuition and examination fees are fully funded, or, if they are aged between 19 and 24 years there will be an employer contribution towards the cost of tuition.

Apprenticeships

Starting with an Intermediate Apprenticeship, the qualification will comprise the following units:

  1. Core qualification in either agriculture or horticulture
  2. Employee rights and responsibilities
  3. Personal learning and thinking skills
  4. Key Skills at Level 1 in Communication and Application of Number
  5. First Aid at Work (One Day)
  6. NPTC Pesticide Application Certificate, or equivalent dependent upon employer requirements

Successful achievement of the Intermediate Apprenticeship allows you to progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship, providing you are working in a suitable supervisory job role. This would comprise the following:

  1. Core qualification in either agriculture or horticulture
  2. Key Skills at Level 2 in Communication and Application of Number

If you are looking for employment with apprenticeship training please contact the National Apprenticeship Service vacancy matching service.
