Thursday 23rd May saw an event to mark the relaunch of the College's Broadview Gardens. Guests gathered in the glorious sunshine to see Head Gardener Ian Fleming and our Horticulture students stage an opening ceremony for the new Japanese Garden.
With his expertise in the philosophy and symbolism of Japanese garden design, Ian redesigned and built the new garden with input from the students.
Elsewhere in the Gardens, Ian and the students installed the water feature from Hadlow alumnus Stuart Charles Towners’ Spirit of Cornwall garden, which won a silver-gilt medal at the 2018 RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
The two gardens feature plenty of unusual and bold planting choices, with imaginatively employed reclaimed materials.
With a five-year plan in place to build and develop new areas throughout, the 10 acres of landscaped gardens and themed sub-gardens are set to be brimming with inspiring new ideas, both contemporary and traditional.
