This course has a high practical element and is delivered alongside working in industry. Students are required to work in a retail florist shop for one day per week as part of their study programme.

A range of employability skills will be developed whilst on the course including practical skills, communication, floristry specific knowledge and development of ICT skills.

Students are able to access a range of additional learning support, based on need and are well supported through the use of virtual learning resources.

Students will also get the opportunity to carry out work placement at our commercial florist.

• Work experience
• Principles of creative design process
• Plant and flower care
• Tied floral designs
• Floral designs in a medium
• Wired floral designs
• Glued designs
• Business management and marketing in floristry
• Trends in the floristry industry
• Event floristry
• Functional skills/GCSE - English and maths

The course is delivered through a range of practical sessions using the floristry facilities and classroom based sessions.

Assessment consists of practical assessments, photographic and video evidence logs, workbooks and written assignments.

Completion this qualification will allow you to gain employment in a range of opportunities including retail florist shops, flower wholesalers, supermarket flower concessions, flower stalls or progress into a higher qualification at Hadlow College.

Small toolbox of basic sundries and a copy of the Professional Floristry manual. Sundries are available to purchase at Broadview Florist.

Appropriate comfortable, neat and tidy clothing.

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of 4 GCSEs A*- C / 9 - 4 Grade or equivalent (Level 2 Diploma), which must include GCSE in English OR maths A*- C / 9 – 4 Grade.
