This short course is designed to provide the novice sheep keeper, or those thinking about starting a sheep flock. The programme will cover the sheep production cycle and all of the key points within that cycle. It will offer a good basic understanding of sheep husbandry and will introduce the learner to the selection of breeds for specific purposes, sheep health, welfare and legislation, sheep nutrition and grassland management, management of ewes at tupping and lambing, care of the new born lamb and many other topics.

The programme is largely class room based and is designed to fit in with additional weekend sheep courses and workshops, available for those wishing to acquire and develop their practical husbandry skills.
