Apprenticeship (Level 2) in Horticulture



This horticulture apprenticeship has a diverse range of occupational pathways covering all aspects of both amenity and production horticulture, which includes a vast range of horticulture occupations detailed below. The framework duration is between 15 and 18 months.

Horticulture includes:

• Landscaping: the creation and maintenance of designed landscapes, both urban and rural
• Sports turf surfaces and facilities
• Parks and planning of domestic gardens
• Public parks, gardens and green spaces
• Garden design
• Production horticulture: large scale growing of fresh produce or crops for sale, either for food or for ornamental purposes. This includes fruit, vegetables, herbs, mushrooms, plants, flowers and trees for sale

• Landscaper • Nursery worker • Fruit and vegetable production worker • Machinery operator • Groundsperson • Gardener • Fruit and vegetable grower

Apprentices will need to complete a training programme designed to cover the key knowledge, skills and behaviour requirements of the framework.

Entry requirements

Minimum GCSE grades 9-4 or equivalent in maths and English.
