Kent 16+ Travel Saver

To be eligible for a KCC 16+ Travel Saver you must be:

  • a student aged 16-19 years
  • live in a house where council tax is paid to Kent County Council, or be a residential student at Hadlow College, if you are outside of the KCC council tax boundary.

Applying Online

Please visit for the 2019/20 online application process and current prices. Application and payment for the bus pass need to be received by Kent County Council (whether made online or by post) by 14th July in order for the pass to be available to collect at College at the start of term. Any applications and payments made to KCC after the 14th July 2019 could take up to six weeks to process.  You will need to upload a clear, passport-style image of the student, which will appear on the 16+ Saver.

Payment for Kent 16+ T/C

Payment for the Kent 16+ Travel Card will need to be made at the time of application to KCC.  If you are eligible for financial support you will receive funding for the travel saver in monthly instalments once you have fully enrolled at college. We are unable to make any financial award payments until you have enrolled with the college.

Information for Students in Care, Care Leavers or Young Adult Carers

If you are aged 16-21 and in care or a care leaver registered with Kent County Council or a young carer aged 16-18 you are eligible to receive a KCC Travel Saver, without payment.  It is not possible to apply for KCC 16+ Travel Saver as this pass is not available free of charge.

Applications for this must be made by post and cannot be applied online.

Applications for young carers must also be endorsed by Kent Young Carers or your local young carers organization. Please visit the Kent County Council website for more information

Financial Support

Students applying for financial support to contribute to the cost of the bus pass need to make an application for this in addition to completing the financial support application form. We require written confirmation that you have applied for the Travel Saver. You can pay online, via Kent County Council, in full or spread the cost in monthly instalments with their new direct debit option.

Late applications will have to self-fund until the card arrives at College.

All awards are based on attendance levels and adherence to College rules and regulations. If you receive financial support for your travel card, and you withdraw from your course at any time during the year, you are required to inform Student Support. Students applying for a KCC 16+ Travel Saver later in the academic year should speak to a member of Student Support for further support and guidance. If you have any queries please contact the College bursaries team.
