LEVEL 3 MOTOR VEHICLE
Riley is taking a Level 3 Motor Vehicle apprenticeship at Hadlow College. The course is offered by North Kent College and studied in the fully equipped Motor Vehicle facility at Hadlow College. The facility has a fully functioning garage, diagnostic centre and workshops, with all the latest equipment. Riley spends 80% of his time in his workplace, Paddock Wood MOT, with the remaining 20% of the time being spent in attendance at College.

What year(s) did you study at Hadlow College?
I joined Hadlow in 2022.
What are you studying?
I am an Apprentice Mechanic.
Why did you choose Hadlow College?
Hadlow was my choice as it was local to my area and it was offering the course iI wanted.
What would you say were the best three things about studying at Hadlow College?
It would be:
- The local area.
- Tutors that are very understanding and take the time to explains things.
- The food is good too!
If you studied / or studying for career purposes, how has Hadlow College helped your career?
Its helped me further my understanding of the experiences of other mechanics in my line of work and it has improved my knowledge on how to do my job, by giving me a better understanding of how parts work.
Where do you now work? And what is next for you?
I work at my local Garage, Paddock Wood MOT, as a service and repairs as a apprentice mechanic. My next step will be to pass my Apprenticeship and gather as many qualifications as I can to improve myself as a mechanic.
What has been your route getting to your current position?
Initially I finished my GCSE's and went into College to study as a electrical engineer. However then Covid struck and, in common with many others, my plans changed, and I applied for my apprenticeship.
Would you recommend studying at the College and why?
Yes, it offers a chance to meet new people and help guide you to a career of your interest.
Describe your whole college experience and how it has enabled you to progress.
It has helped made me realize that there is a lot more that goes into being a mechanic that just turning spanners and tinkering with cars.
What would be the piece of advice you would give to someone thinking of coming to college or specifically coming to Hadlow?
You never know till you try it. Hadlow is a fun place to go and you are bound to meet like minded people.
