Animal Management

By studying a course in animal management at Hadlow College, you can learn how to care for a number of different animals and become part of an industry which, with the growth in awareness surrounding animal welfare issues, continues to expand at an amazing rate.

Our animal management courses take full advantage of the facilities we have on site. Within our purpose built animal management unit, you will be involved in the care of over 200 different species, gain highly practical training and learn about animal biology, conservation and behaviour. Throughout the courses you will be required to complete work experience to develop your practical skills and undertake duties on the animal management unit. Students are involved in all aspects of management and husbrandry - from planning animal collections and designing and maintaining enclosures to day-to-day animal care.

We also offer a number of degrees in animal management, animal behaviour and animal conservation in partnership with the University of Greenwich. These degree programmes make full use of our amazing facilities and take advantage of the strong links with industry that the College possesses. They represent a ideal progression route for people interested in animal-related jobs or working with animals directly.

Ultimately, upon finishing your course at Hadlow College, your career in animal management could involve working abroad with one of the many non-governmental organisations that exist, or consulting on animal behaviour issues.

I chose to attend Hadlow as it offered a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience with companion, exotic and farm animals. It taught me the fundamentals of animal care and the required confidence to excel in my first full-time job in a zoo.
