This is a one-year, full time qualification. Practical and theory lessons will take place throughout your study programme and we work with local employers who will contribute to the delivery of your qualification by providing talks and offering work experience. In addition, trips will occur to support your learning experience. Work experience is an essential part of this qualification and is to be gained by yourself to cover a minimum of 150 hours.
This course is designed to give students the practical and theoretical knowledge required for employment into the land and wildlife sector. You will study ecological concepts and application along with environmental interpretation, water management and how to manage volunteers in the workplace. It will enable you to develop specialist skills such as woodland and costal habitat management, river fishery management and habitat management learning on our large estate. This course has a mixture of practical and theory lessons and is delivered to make use of the excellent resources we have on site and the range of experience within the curriculum team. This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required for you to enter employment in the countryside sector in many roles including countryside ranger or warden, volunteer manager, estates supervisor or boundary contractor.
