At Hadlow College we understand everyone is different and some students with a learning difference, disability, sensory impairment, or medical condition may need support to get the most out of college life.

Support options may include making reasonable adjustments to facilities and resources or putting in place specific support.

Support may be available for students with:

  • Dyslexia, dyspraxia, and other specific learning difficulties

  • Speech, language and communication difficulties/disabilities
  • Physical and mobility difficulties
  • Medical conditions
  • Moderate learning difficulties
  • Social, emotional and mental health difficulties

  • Exam access arrangements for individuals
  • Meeting personal care needs
  • Information, advice and guidance for career progression

Education Health and Care Plans

We welcome students that have an Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP) to apply to North Kent College; however, a formal consultation by their home local authority must take place prior to admission in line with the legal requirements of the Children & Families Act 2014. Students who would like to apply to the College and have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHC plan) will need to inform the SEND team at their Local Authority. A formal consultation will then be sent to the College.

Higher Education

An EHCP is not usually maintained for learners who complete further education (Level 3) and progress into higher education. Students studying a course of higher education (for example, HNC, HND, degree or equivalent) who require additional support can apply to Student Finance England for a Disabled Student Allowance (DSA). We are happy to give advice on this process.
