Two floristry students at a table with flowers

Today (Monday, June 8) marks the second anniversary of the launch of National Florist Day, a day created to celebrate the work of florists across the UK.

The inaugural event back in 2024 helped to raise the profile of a multi-million pound industry that marks life’s most important moments with a dazzling array of artistry and beauty.

It was launched that year by Caroline Marshall-Foster, editor of trade magazine The Florist, as part of a campaign to showcase the work and creativity of local independent florists nationwide.

The campaign illustrated how floristry is more than just giving flowers, it is about giving a feeling whatever the occasion. The skills and creativity that florists show with every bouquet can leave a lasting impression.

That also extends to names of florists across the UK, from Dark Side of the Bloom and Aster Le Vista to Floral & Hardy. There’s quite a few in Kent, we’d like to add to that list.

While National Florist Day itself may be on pause this year, its mission lives on here at Hadlow College where our floristry courses will help you to develop professional skills and unlock that all important creative flair.

We offer fully equipped floristry studios, design spaces, and even our own cutting garden. Here, you’ll gain experience in every aspect of the craft: from conditioning fresh flowers and foliage, to mastering design principles, retail practice, and event floristry.

You can also create installations for our stunning Broadview Gardens and contribute to prestigious events such as the Chelsea Flower Show.
