Operating as a partnership between The Pet Charity and NKC Hadlow College, in association with the Reptile and Exotic Pet Trade (REPTA), the Centre is located on the Faulkners Farm site of NKC Hadlow College. Its aim is to be a centre of excellence and improve the lives of pet reptiles and amphibians in the UK.
What is the National Centre for Reptile Welfare at NKC Hadlow College? 
The National Centre for Reptile Welfare at NKC Hadlow College is the first facility of its type in the United Kingdom. It provides refuge and care for more than 1,000 unwanted and vulnerable reptiles and amphibians.
The centre’s aim is to rehabilitate and re-home these animals through a national network of retailers and wholesalers, while also improving knowledge and understanding of their care, welfare and needs.
How do students gain experience at the National Centre for Reptile Welfare?
Working closely with the College’s Animal Management faculty, the centre provides degree-level students with practical opportunities in animal husbandry, care and non-invasive behavioural research. Students gain hands-on experience supporting the rehabilitation and re-homing of a wide range of captive amphibians and reptiles.
What facilities are available at the National Centre for Reptile Welfare?
The centre includes full veterinary triage and initial quarantine facilities, holding facilities for venomous species, and accommodation for a wide range of reptiles and amphibians. These include smaller species such as geckos, as well as larger animals including constrictors and iguanas while they await re-homing.
