NKC Hadlow College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners. We work in line with current Government guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children, alongside all relevant legislation.
Safeguarding is led by senior staff David Martin (Governor for Safeguarding) and Rebecca Skinner (Head of Welfare & Safeguarding), who ensure a strong culture of safety and support across the College.
All staff share responsibility for safeguarding and are trained to recognise, and report concerns in line with North Kent Colleges Group procedures. Regular training ensures staff remain up to date with current guidance and best practice.
Our Safeguarding Children and Adults at Risk Policy is reviewed annually to reflect any updates in legislation and best practice.

What is Prevent?
Prevent is a national safeguarding strategy that aims to stop people from becoming involved in, or supporting, violent extremism or terrorism. The Channel programme provides support for individuals who may be at risk of being drawn into these activities, helping them access appropriate guidance and intervention.
Prevent covers all forms of extremism, including far-right extremism, animal rights extremism and religious extremism.

How do I make a referral?
If you are concerned about someone, raising the issue early can ensure they receive the right support and help prevent further risk. Concerns can be reported to a course tutor, any member of staff, or the safeguarding team.
