Residential Financial Support for Students aged 16-18 at NKC Hadlow College
At NKC Hadlow College, we offer residential financial support to help eligible students aged 16-18 with the cost of living at College while studying on a land-based course. Support is available through the Residential Bursary Fund (RBF) and may contribute towards accommodation and residential meal costs.
The Residential Bursary Fund (RBF) is available to help eligible students from low-income households with the cost of residential accommodation at NKC Hadlow College. How and when do I apply? Applications should be submitted online as soon as possible after the Easter holidays before the academic year starts. Application deadlines: Late applications will still be considered, but any fees due at enrolment must be paid in full. If funding is awarded later, eligible costs may be refunded. How are applications assessed? Students must provide all requested supporting evidence so eligibility can be assessed. Applications are normally processed within two weeks of receiving a fully completed application. Outcomes are sent to the student’s personal email (and parent/guardian where appropriate) and can also be viewed via the bursary portal. Attendance Requirements All Residential Bursary awards are subject to maintaining a minimum attendance level of 90%. All awards are subject to a minimum 90% attendance requirement. Payments may be reduced or stopped if attendance falls below this level. Attendance is reviewed monthly in line with the Residential Bursary Policy. Who is eligible? To be eligible, students must: Please note: Funding is subject to Government guidance and availability and applying does not guarantee funding or accommodation. The Residential Bursary Fund provides a contribution towards residential accommodation costs for eligible students. Students awarded Residential Bursary support may also automatically be assessed for: The bursary contributes towards accommodation fees but may not cover the full cost of residential living. Students must complete the Residential Financial Support application form and provide full supporting evidence of household income. If a student lives with parents, guardians, or a partner, evidence of the entire household income must be provided regardless of the student’s age. Supporting evidence may include: If evidence is missing, the Student Bursary Team will attempt to contact the applicant by telephone, email, or letter. Applications may be closed if no response is received after three contact attempts. Applications are normally assessed within two weeks of receiving a fully completed application with all required evidence. Students will receive confirmation of the outcome via email. Please note: Receiving a Residential Bursary award does not automatically guarantee accommodation. Students must also complete the accommodation application process and meet residential criteria. All Residential Bursary awards are subject to ongoing attendance and eligibility requirements. All awards are subject to a minimum 90% attendance requirement. Payments may be reduced or stopped if attendance falls below this level. Attendance is monitored monthly in line with the Residential Bursary Policy. If your bursary application is unsuccessful and you wish to appeal the decision, you must submit your appeal in writing to the Student Bursary Coordinator within 2 weeks of receiving your outcome. Your application will then be reviewed and a final decision communicated to you. If you remain dissatisfied following the appeal, you may follow the College complaints procedure here. Students aged 16-18 (or 19+ with an EHCP) and enrolled on a full-time Government-funded further education programme, could be eligible for a free college meal. Students who qualify for free meals will receive a meal allowance of £2.58 per timetabled day (in line with the Government policy) which is allocated to the Residential Meal Plan for use in the College cafeteria.
