Residential Financial Support for Students19+ at NKC Hadlow College
At NKC Hadlow College, we offer Residential Financial Support to help eligible students aged 19+ with the cost of living at college while studying on a land-based Further Education course.
Support is available through a range of 19+ bursary schemes and may contribute towards residential accommodation costs for students from low-income households.

Who can apply for Residential 19+ Financial Support?
Residential Financial Support is available to eligible students aged 19+ studying on a Further Education programme at NKC Hadlow College.
How and when do I apply?
Applications for Residential Financial Support must be submitted online using the bursary application form.
Please ensure that all sections of the application are completed and all supporting evidence is provided. Incomplete applications cannot be assessed, and support cannot be backdated where delays are caused by missing information.
If evidence is missing, the Student Bursary Team will contact applicants by email and/or letter. The team will attempt contact up to three times. If no response is received, the application will be closed.
Who is eligible?
To be considered for Residential Financial Support, you must:
- Be aged 19 or over on 31 August before the academic year begins
- Be enrolled on an eligible Further Education land-based course
- Have an approved Advanced Learner Loan (where applicable)
- Have a household net income of £28,000 or below
- Meet the College’s bursary guidance, terms and conditions, and accommodation requirements
Please note:
- Household income includes the income of anyone you live with, including parents, guardians, or partners, regardless of your age.
- Funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to applicants who meet the eligibility criteria.
- Submitting an application does not guarantee an award.

What evidence do I need to provide?
Applicants who live with parents, guardians, or a partner must provide evidence of the full household income, regardless of the student’s age.

How will I know my application has been successful?
Fully completed applications will normally be assessed within two weeks of receipt.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome by email.
While funding is limited, appeals may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
Please note that receiving a Residential Financial Support award does not automatically guarantee accommodation. Students must also complete an accommodation application form and meet the accommodation eligibility criteria.

Are there any Attendance Requirements?
All bursary awards are dependent on continued eligibility and satisfactory attendance.
- Attendance is monitored monthly
- Awards may be reduced if attendance falls below 90%
- Reductions will be made in line with the student’s attendance percentage for that month
- Continued low attendance may result in bursary support being withdrawn entirely
