Student picking tomatoes

This month is organic September, a month-long celebration of all things organic.

Organic farming works in harmony with nature. It avoids artificial fertilisers and pesticides, supports biodiversity, and nurtures the soil, something we know a thing or two about here at Hadlow College.

Whether it’s through our commercial farms, our state-of-the-art ‘robotic orchard and vineyard’, or our Centre of Excellence in Greenhouse Growing, the Thanet Earth Centre of Excellence at Hadlow College, every field, greenhouse and classroom at Hadlow supports the same mission: farming for the future.

Choosing organic isn’t just about what you eat, it’s about how it’s grown. Organic methods reduce harmful emissions, cut water use, and boost soil health, all while producing nutritious, chemical-free food.

Through practical experience on our commercial farms and cutting-edge facilities, Hadlow students gain real-world skills in regenerative agriculture, sustainable horticulture, and low-impact food systems.

We believe in farming that feeds people, protects wildlife, and heals the land and we’re proud to train the next generation of growers, engineers, conservationists and scientists to do just that.

So this Organic September, if you’re passionate about the planet, curious about conservation, or ready to get your hands dirty for a good cause, come and grow with us. We are Kent’s only rural and land-based college and as such we offer a huge number of courses at our beautiful campus set in 265 acres of prime arable land.

Our courses cover: Agriculture (livestock, arable, fruit and vegetables), Horticulture (glasshouse production, fruit and vegetables, viticulture, greenkeeping and ornamental production), Gardening, Agricultural Engineering, Aquaculture & Fisheries Management, Land and Wildlife Management, Equine, Animal Management, and Floristry.

Our history dates back over 100 years, and the College is a warm and welcoming community.
