Reason #1: It is Very Easy to Make Friends
Whilst every student gets their own room, there are communal areas with a lounge, kitchen and bathroom facilities.
On top of that there is the College restaurant (Greenhouse Restaurant and Café), Common Room and Student Bar situated at Garrad House.
The College’s Residential Support Officers also arrange a schedule of events and social activities in the evening for students ranging from themed discos to quiz nights to cinema trips.
The likelihood is that within a few weeks of moving to the College you will have a whole new group of friends.
Reason #2: It is Good Value
Our accommodation packages range from £140 per week for self-catering to £160 for half board to £170 per week for full board.
This includes all utility bills, along with 24-hour emergency support on campus and pastoral support and a counselling service.
If you are looking to rent a room privately in the surrounding areas, then you might find something for a similar cost, but it certainly won’t include food and bills!
Our residential accommodation offers great value for money.
Reason #3: You Are Close to the Action
If you live in our residential accommodation, then everything will be on your doorstep.
All the College facilities are walkable and nearby are other essentials including a minimart, newsagents with Post Office, a chemist, baker and hairdresser.
You are also literally on the main bus route, so you can be in Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells or Maidstone in no time at all.
But of course, as we mentioned at the top of this article, there is no excuse for being late to your lectures with everything so close!
Reason #4: There is a Community Feel
There are around 199 residential units at Hadlow (147 for Further Education students and 52 for Higher Education students), which gives the site a perfect community feel. The chances are that by the end of the year you will be on first names terms with almost everyone living on site!
It is big enough to give you a strong sense of independence, but not too big as to feel impersonal.
Reason #5: You Will Have Plenty of Support
Moving away from home can be a stressful time, so at Hadlow there is a dedicated Student Support Team at hand 24 hours a day.
The Support Team are there to listen to any concerns, whether that be to do with a student’s course or of a more personal matter, and to help students settle into their new homes.
There is also a professional counselling service available and Residential Support Officers to help students widen their life skills, including help with budgeting, cleaning routines and cooking skills.
Reason #6: It is Safe and Secure
All staff and students are issued with ID cards which must always be worn on College premises.
What is more, all the entrance doors to the residential blocks are security locked and movement is recorded and monitored.
Reason #7: You Will Be in Beautiful Surroundings
There aren’t many areas of residential accommodation where you can leave your room and within minutes be in the countryside or walking past pygmy goats or emus, but you can at Hadlow!
Our Hadlow site is set in 265 acres of prime arable land, comprised of a natural river, three commercial farms, show gardens, lakes, the National Centre for Reptile Welfare and much more.
It is a beautiful place to live and study.
