Today (Saturday 25 July) marks the beginning of National Marine Week, a celebration of the UK’s incredible marine life and environments.
Organised by the Wildlife Trust, this event actually runs for two weeks, from 25 July to 9 August, to make the most of different tidal conditions around the country.
Throughout the fortnight, a variety of free local events will be held to inspire and educate people about the beauty and importance of our marine wildlife.

Students gain hands-on experience in areas such as fish biology and health, aquatic environment management, and modern fisheries techniques, all taught by experienced lecturers with industry backgrounds.
Our specialist facilities include Grove Farm Fishing Lake, a two-hectare mixed coarse fishing lake and growing-on ponds. As a commercial fishery and fish farm, it gives students real-world skills in carp husbandry, fisheries management, and the legal aspects of fish farming.
