We were very privileged to be chosen to represent Hadlow College on the judging panel for the BBC’s prestigious “Make A Difference Awards” held at the Malthouse Theatre in Canterbury on Monday, September 22nd.

The Make a Difference Awards are the local community’s chance to say thank you and recognise those who improve lives where we live. The ceremonies take place across the entire UK throughout September. Awards range from The Young Hero, The Great Neighbour, The Animal Award and many more!

Jo Saunders, Head of Curriculum for Animal Management was selected to be on the judging panel for the coveted Animal Award, awarded to an animal that improves the life of an individual or group of people. Or a person or group of people working with animals to improve animal welfare.

Speaking about the event, Jo said” What an absolute pleasure to present the Animal Award at the BBC Make a Difference Awards on behalf of Hadlow College. I can’t begin to tell you how hard it was to choose the winner – all four finalists deserve recognition for their dedication and commitment to animal welfare, with two dogs in the mix dedicating their lives to children’s welfare too! I am delighted for my winner, Jo Hogbin from Dotties Hedgehog Hospital who is a shining role model for our students – spending 24 hours a day, 7 days a week caring for rescued and injured wildlife.”
