Over 150 students from Hadlow College’s Motorcycle, Motor Vehicle, Motorsport and Carpentry programmes received road safety training recently, delivered by Kent County Council’s Safer Road Users team and representatives from Kent Fire & Rescue Service.
Hosted by our Automotive Department, the initiative provided students with essential real-world knowledge and confidence, reinforcing the importance of responsibility and awareness on the road.
Jack from Kent County Council led an informative session aimed at young motorcycle riders, exploring the importance of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), legal riding requirements, safe stopping distances and effective vehicle control.
Emma from KCC continued the session with a focus on road safety awareness, highlighting the impact of drug and alcohol impairment, and speed awareness, alongside modern distractions such as mobile phone use when riding.

The group then participated in the highly regarded Biker Down! workshop training from Andy, James and Claire from Kent Fire & Rescue Service, equipping students with practical first response skills including accident scene management, safe helmet removal, how to safely position an injured rider, wound dressing and the fundamentals of CPR. The hands-on approach was extremely well received by learners and staff.
Kent County Council will return in early 2026 to deliver a new and enhanced Young Driver course, presented by an ex-Road Traffic Police Officer, focusing specifically on safe and responsible car driving.
We extend our thanks to Kent County Council and Kent Fire & Rescue Service for their professionalism and ongoing commitment to supporting the safety and development of our students.
