Student holding award certificate

We are celebrating the success of one of our students, Henry Stedman‑Collins, who has been named a winner at the inaugural Kent Apprenticeship Awards, recognising exceptional apprenticeship talent from across the county.

Henry, an 18‑year‑old Level 2 Golf Greenkeeping apprentice at Sene Valley Golf Club, impressed judges with his consistently high standards both in the workplace and at college. His award was announced at a ceremony held on Friday 4 June at Priestfield Stadium, Gillingham.

Judges praised Henry for demonstrating “exceptional dedication, maturity and professionalism throughout his Golf Greenkeeping apprenticeship”, highlighting his enthusiasm, resilience and willingness to push himself further. His outstanding coursework, strong practical performance and positive influence were all recognised as key strengths.

Henry works under the guidance of head greenkeeper Dan Martin at Sene Valley Golf Club, where he has become a highly valued member of staff.

At Hadlow College, Henry has consistently produced work of an outstanding standard and has featured in the college’s Turf Wire magazine. His ambition is further demonstrated through his application for the prestigious Toro Student Greenkeeper of the Year Award, a national competition celebrating the most promising emerging talent in the industry.

Speaking about the award, Henry said,

“All the candidates were really strong. I am very pleased to have achieved this within my first two years of the industry, and plan to use what I have learnt from this experience as I continue my career.”

Anthony Stockwell, Senior Skills Trainer (Golf Greenkeeping and Sports Turf) added, “I’m delighted to see Henry receive this well-deserved recognition. His hard work, commitment, and attitude have been key to his success, and this achievement reflects the support and encouragement of everyone at Sene Valley who has been part of the journey.”

Hadlow College is proud to see Henry’s achievements recognised at county level. The Kent Apprenticeship Awards - delivered in partnership with East Kent Colleges Group and MidKent College - celebrate the vital role apprenticeships play in developing skills, supporting careers and strengthening the Kent economy.
