Students and staff attending a Harvest Festival church service at Hadlow

Students and staff came together at St Mary’s Church, Hadlow on Thursday 8 October for the College’s very first Harvest Festival.

The church was full as students from Motor Vehicle, Sport, Floristry, Horticulture, Fisheries and Animal Management joined staff and Rev Dr Peter Hayler to celebrate the harvest and give thanks for the food and produce grown and prepared within the local community.

As part of the celebration, the College collected food donations which will be given to the Paddock Wood Food Bank, while Horticulture students contributed apples grown at the College and Floristry students donated flowers to help decorate the church.

The service included hymns, a Bible reading from Christine Wright from the Residential Team, and a reflection on the importance of harvest at NKC Hadlow College from Dr Ros Fisher, our Deputy Head of Curriculum for Agriculture, Land-based Technology & Fisheries.

The event was organised with support from the Residential Team, who also provided drinks and biscuits for students and staff to enjoy together at the end of the service.

The first Harvest Festival provided a lovely opportunity for the NKC Hadlow College community to come together, celebrate the work of students and staff across the College, and support people in the local community through donations to Paddock Wood Food Bank.
