Karen King holds up her Kent Education Award certificate

Our Residential Manager Karen King has been recognised at this year’s Kent Education Awards, celebrating the outstanding contribution educators and support staff make across Kent and Medway.

Organised by Social Enterprise Kent, the Kent Education Awards recognise the critical role that educators and school staff play in shaping the future of children and young people, celebrating their dedication, innovation and impact.

Karen King, Residential Manager at Hadlow College, was named a Tonbridge & Malling district regional winner as Support Staff Member of the Year, following glowing praise for her exceptional dedication and compassionate leadership. Judges highlighted the transformational support she provides to students, particularly her work supporting learners facing challenges and her “unwavering support” and commitment to student wellbeing, noting that Karen consistently goes above and beyond to ensure students feel safe, supported and able to succeed.

Her nomination highlighted Karen’s ability to build confidence, resilience and belonging among students, while also mentoring colleagues and strengthening residential provision across the college. Her inspirational leadership was noted as helping to secure an Outstanding Ofsted rating for residential provision, reflecting the culture of excellence, kindness and support she has built.

The award success highlights the outstanding commitment, professionalism and passion demonstrated by staff and our continued dedication to delivering exceptional experiences and outcomes for students.
